How it started

I

At Stanford Mini Aussies, we believe that great things come in small, mighty packages.

Since 2019, we have been proudly raising Miniature Australian Shepherds with a deep love for the breed’s intelligence, loyalty, and vibrant spirit.

Our story began with a childhood dream. Growing up, I always wanted a dog, but the only pets allowed in our home were cats—granted only after years of negotiation. As life unfolded, I met my partner, a lifelong dog owner who, at the time, had a tiny poodle and a playful poodle mix. While they both showered me with affection, they weren’t truly mine.

After many conversations, we decided it was time for me to have my own puppy. I had childhood visions of owning a German Shepherd like Rex or a Rough Collie like Lassie. But while researching, I stumbled upon a picture of an Australian Shepherd—and everything changed. Their spirit and beauty captured my heart, and when I discovered their miniature version through dog shows and deeper research, I fell completely in love.

The search for the perfect puppy wasn’t easy. After months of searching and moments of doubt, we finally found an ad for a blue merle Mini Aussie puppy nearby. His name would be Blue. The first moment I held him at just five weeks old, I knew he was meant for us. Though we couldn’t take him home immediately, we secured him with great excitement.

During that waiting time, while traveling through Southern California, fate intervened again. Just a night before heading home, we found another listing. We couldn’t visit the litter directly but arranged to meet the breeder halfway. There, amidst the tiny, bouncing puppies, one little girl chose me—Zina. She was already nine weeks old and joined our family that day.

A week later, Blue came home too.

And that’s how our Mini Aussies story began—with two perfect little souls who changed our lives forever.

Today, we are a small, home-based breeding program dedicated to raising healthy, well-socialized Miniature Australian Shepherds. All of our puppies are ASDR-registered and raised with daily love, early socialization, and careful attention. Each puppy goes home with initial vaccinations, deworming, and a small go-home package filled with familiar comforts to ease their transition.

We ask for a rehoming fee to ensure that our puppies are placed with families who are not only loving but also ready to provide a lifelong commitment.

At Stanford Mini Aussies, we don’t just raise dogs—we raise loyal companions, tiny adventurers, and forever friends.

Mini in size, mighty in heart.

  • Our puppies start at $2,000, with final pricing based on coat color, eye color, gender, and individual markings.
Each puppy is raised in our home with early training, proper socialization, and a strong focus on temperament and structure. We invest deeply in every litter to ensure you receive a confident, well-adjusted companion.

If you're interested in welcoming a Stanford Mini Aussie into your family, please contact us directly for full pricing details and availability.
We only respond to serious and committed inquiries.

  • We require a $500 deposit to join our waitlist. This deposit is non-refundable but transferable to a future litter if needed.
The deposit helps ensure that only serious and committed families contact us—it’s part of our screening process to protect the well-being of our puppies.
Puppy matching is based on deposit order, lifestyle fit, and temperament evaluations to make sure each puppy is placed in the right home.

  • Miniature Australian Shepherds are intelligent, loyal, and full of energy. They thrive in homes where they receive plenty of attention, structure, and mental stimulation.
They are not low-maintenance dogs—they need at least 1 to 2 hours of daily exercise and ongoing training to stay happy and well-balanced.
If you're looking for a laid-back couch companion, a Mini Aussie may not be the best fit. But if you're an active individual or family ready to engage, play, and grow alongside your dog, a Mini Aussie can be a loving, lifelong partner.

  • Our founding dogs, Zina and Blue, were not genetically tested, but they’ve produced healthy, well-balanced puppies that are thriving in their forever homes.
As we expand, we are committed to testing all new dogs that join our program. This includes full genetic panels and veterinary evaluations to ensure we continue improving the health and well-being of each future generation. Our goal is to raise happy, healthy Mini Aussies with sound temperaments and strong foundations.
